POLLUTING RELIGIOUS PLACES

ARVIND K.PANDEY

(PUBLISHED ON BUSINESS WORLD WEBSITE , SEPTEMBER , 07)

It's a sad reality of our times that religious places have turned into business centres , sustaining livlihood of small shopkeepers with the spiritual aura , associated with the place , relegating into background .What's more the prominent Teerthas have turned into most-wanted tourist spots , leading to emergence of pleasure-oriented centres around the place . Needless to state, the places like Gangotri face the danger of serious enviromental breakdown . Unless these places are saved from the onslaught of tourists , there is little hope of making them in tune with will of nature . Ironically , these places might be providing " Moksha " to the worshippers , they themselves are being annihilated by the huge leftovers ,scattered here and there at these places . In other words , the " Teerthas " have to pay a heavy price for providing tourists their share of bliss !
