Though the government has sanctioned $114 billion for rehabilitation schemes , one is still apprehensive about the future of African-Americans trapped in " privatised, gentrified, and militarised " world supported by the Americans .Well, only a better governance in New Orleans , which heeds to the problems of poor and marginalised people in a substantial way would prevent the US from the clutches of fatally severe guilt pangs .

Jeremy Seabrook rightly states that " without acknowledging the nature of the separation , and where it comes from , the chances even for peacful co-existence in the long term are remote ." I wish to state that there is always an invisible power guiding our lives . This invisible power could be understood as perceptions lived by our forefathers . Ironically , dubious interpretations of religious texts which make " Allah " or " Christ " as the only real God create all sorts of complexities . In other words , unless we come to annihilate the superiority complex, propogated by fake teachers ,hell-bent on making one race inferior to another race , there is little hope of bringing Muslims and Britishers one one platform .

There is no need to link them with her spiritual qoutient in the last phases of her life .The seekers often come to feel pangs of separation as a result of excessive love for their beloved , the Lord , in the journey towards the Ultimate .Such " emptiness " often provokes them to depeer introspection , leading to emergence of better means to strike an intimate bond with the Lord .This seems to be the case with Teresa as well for whom this " emptiness " turned out to be blessing in disguise .It certainly opened the gate of deeper reflections over the ways and merans to concentrate the presence of Lord in her life .

NAXALISM : DEVOID OF SUBSTANCE

It's indeed tragic that Naxalism which started to provide underprivilged a dgnified place in society has turned into biggest threat for internal security . All because its leaders have taken strange U-turns on par with their interests , shearing Naxalism of its real purpose .Worse, dilly-dallying on the part of Central government has allowed the Naxalites to spread their roots in newer zones . At the same time , they appear to be hand-in-glove with anti-national elements in regions close to Nepal border .Ironically , Shivaraj Patil seems to be trapped in labyrinthine political solutions instead of taking strong measures to curb their growth . A movement born out of deprivations has today , in the eyes of Communists , turned in law and order problem . Anyway , a wide spectrum of strategies need to to be taken into consideration to wipe out Naxalites .

It needs to be insisted nonetheless that interests of small street sellers be protected at all costs if big companies are allowed to rule the roost in reatil business .It's ironical that government is hell bent to push the small farmers to brink of extinction by giving green signal to retail business czars . Is government ready to provide lifelines to thses vendors by offering them huge subsidies , something commonplace in Western world ? Well,the way our government machinery functions nobody is going to take the assurances of government too seriously . It's another example of high-handedness of government where it has failed to see through the grave implications inherent in its invitation to big companies . It's going to hit the farmers hard , who are already involved in serious tussle with middlemen ,policemen and stone-hearted Mandi officials .

MAKING OF NEW PAKISTAN

Given the travesty of democratic ideals , it's better that Musharraf steps down to provide a sigh of relief to the Pakistani people waiting for a new dawn . It's time to cash -in-on the initiatives of Iftikhar Chaudhry to bring Pakistan back on track . In Pakistan's history , this is the most suitable time to make it true representative of people . No doubt ,it would not be an easy task to shatter the unholy alliance of Mullahs and the radical groups . However ,likes of Imran Khan , Iftikhar Chaudhry and Benazir Bhutto , to name a few , have the power to marginalise the extremists forever . They should also ensure that nuclear technology , with change in guard , dosen't fall in the hands of wrong people . These 'change agents' should not forget that if they fail to honour the wishes of people in a meaningful way , the destiny would not provide them second chance in near future . In nutshell, it's the fittest moment to introduce pro-people reforms .These postive developments might wither away if these leaders come to display infirm bent of minds . The writing on the wall is clear : Get united to keep Pakistan above chaos and disorder .

The government should not slow down the pace of programmes aimed at bringing better days in the lives of people involved in unorganised sector . It should not take note of Left's objection in this regard , which has mastered the art of political blackmailing .Needless to state , lack of essential facilties like absence of pension schemes , delay in introduction of health insurance schemes and arbitrary mode of payment are some of the problems which need to be tackled in impartial manner .It's time to recognize the worth of people trapped in 'Jungle laws ' of unorganised sector . Let's not forget that they , too , have a right to raise standard of their living patterns.Surely , government cannot ignore the legitimate rights of these people , taking all steps to make them in league with global practises.

Why was the previous UP government naive enough to make appointments of policemen without verifying their credentials at the onset of selection procedure ? The Allahabad High Court has rightly observed that the corrupt bureaucrats are responsible for flooding the courts with cases .Had these officials bothered to honour the checks and balances involved in the selection process , the dismissed cops would not have found themselves on road with their bag and baggage .It's really tragic that high-handedness of the petty politicians often comes to demolish the dreams of citizens.

Radha holds a special place in the hearts of Radha-Krishna devotees. Krishna without Radha can never be meditated upon. And that explains why Janmashtmi is incomplete without Radhashtmi’s celebrations in full fervour.On this day devotees plunge into a state of euphoria in Vraja where it is celebrated with grandeur. Radharani daughter of Brishabhanu and Kalawati was born in Barsaane fifteen days after Krishna ’s birth in Mathura . Radha being ‘hladinishakti’ of Shri Krishna always remains in unison with him. Radhashtmi, her appearance day, is viewed by the devotes as a day that leads an aspirant on to the path of bhakti and bliss—a step closer towards absolute merging of the lover in the beloved. Radha’s grace alone provide as supreme Bhakti and it is she who makes seekers union with Krishna possible.

According to Padmapurana Gopis were Rishis of Dandakarnya who had expressed their desire to be in intimate service of Lord Rama. Lord Rama had then told them to wait till his next incarnation as Krishna takes place in Dvapar age.Upanishads,too, appeared in the form of Gopis to participate in Leelas of Krishna. Gopis who embraced the lotus feet of Lord Krishna have been classified into several categories due to difference in attitude and service. Some are sadhna –oriented i.e. they have attained Gopi bhava because of austerities performed in their earlier births whereas some are in service of Krishna from beginning (Nitya-priya).It is said that a jeeva attains Gopi bhava through intense tapas.Radha,Chandraravali Visakha,Lalita,Shyama and Padma were prominent Gopis.Shri Radharani is of Mahabhava Swaroopa and,therefore, she stands apart from others as the Chief Gopika.

Raadhika possesses infinite qualities prominent among them being twenty five, which includes chief among Krishna-priyas, soft-spoken, clever, and adept in classical form of music, Rasaswaroopa kind-hearted, owner of pious smile and unusual depth within. Her actions are borne out of desire to serve and please Govinda.

Surdas gives a loving detail of the first meeting of Radha and Krishna.One day Shri Krishna while engaged in the Bal Leela happens to reach the bank of Yamuna. He is surprised as well as delighted to find there a new face which was glowing with supreme beauty. Krishna , left dumb struck by such a beauty could not resist himself from asking her name, “I have never seen you before in Brija.Who are you?”he asked. “Why should I come to ever come to Brija, I have too many friends to play with at my place.I have come to know that Nanda’s son is a big trouble­-maker who excels in the art of stealing,” she shot back. Krishna , determined to get her company said, “What do you possess that I am going to steal from you and which you fear to lose? Come let play together. We would form an excellent pair”. Poor Radha she didn’t realize that what she was going to lose—heart the most valuable possession of any woman.

The conjugal relationship between Radha and Krishna is pinnacle of Madhurya Bhava.At this point it is necessary to mention that Parmatma is one-without-a-second ! Therefore no leela is possible in this state. In the madhurya bhava Nirguna Parabrahman is supposed to have a form with which a bhakta can establish a relationship. Gradualy moving through five principle bhavas a stage comes when a bhakta cares little for worldly obligations and principles. This is the peak point popularly known as “Kanta Bhava’in Vaishnava literature. Somthing that separates Rasa leela from ordinary leelas is whereas the former takes place at yoga maya level,the latter is performed at Mahamaya level .Surdas considers total surrendering and forgetfulness of body consciousness essential for maturity of Madhurya Bhava.Bhagvan Ramakrishna said, “I have spent a few days in Radha Bhava.On those occasions I use to dress like woman. It is indeed impossible to sing the glory of Radha who is embodiment of refined virtue and supreme love.”

Gross mundane realities prevent us from having a glimpse of Rasa leela of Radha and Krishna but bhaktas like Surdas are always absorbed in their Madhurya. Explaining the reason of deep love between Radha and Krishna Surdas cites chidhod fancies. He feels a bond of friendship formed in the childhood contains in it the seeds of deep love, which under favourable circumstances get converted into life-long commitment. Gaudiya cult provides an absolutely a different explanation .Here love already exists in their hearts and its growth is not dependant on outside influences. Similarly Radha conceived by Chandidas is too sensitive whose heart aches on hearing the name of Madhava.

Perhaps differences in their outlook is the result of bhava that captivated their heart ,which is in each case unique. So Radha of Surdas has egocentric tendencies. She not only humiliates Krishna but even rebukes him on trivial issues.So what if in isolation she weeps for Krishna ,her heart always aching for intimate moments. It is this duality in her behavior and paradoxical approach hat keeps Krishna guessing each time He meets her. On the other hand, Vidyapati’s Radha too has ego but it subsides when she faces Krishna . Radha perceived by Chandidas is completely devoid of ego. She n neither reacts nor retaliate but remains absorbed in His thoughts.

Vaishnavaas have carved unique image of Radha ,which has no parallel.It is so because Vaishnavas don’t consider Bhakti to be bhava,Bahakti is ‘Rasa’ to them. Though Radha does not figure in clearly in Bhagavat Purana ,she is the prime character of Brahma Vaivarta and Padma Purana. Jaideva’s appearance on the scene in 12th century Radharani comes into limelight. It is believed that these two Puranas and Geeta Govinda of Jayadeva established her as paragon of love and virtue. But it was Nimbakacharya who first revealed philosophical aspects of Shri Radha’s various dimensions. Lord has two powers namely Kriyashakti and Gyanaskati.Satyabhama (Bhudevi) represents the former while the Rukamani(Sridevi) stands for the latter. In Radha these two powers get unified and she thus becomes Parashakti of the Lod.In this form these two powers attain a non –dual relationship with the Lord but in their individual state retain their particular relationship. Thus exists a distinction when one fails to identify with Sri Radha.Sri Nimabakacharya provides a much elevated status to Radha. She becomes Bhakti or Brahman Vidya which liberates jeeva from bondage of Maya.In other words, she becomes a Supreme Master.

Shri Krishna who always remains one with her is called “Atma Rama”.Krishna states in Padma Purana: ‘Know Radhika to be best of teachers of the Highest Knowledge—Knowledge of Brahman.’ Let us pray that she appears on the earth again and again .If He arrives how can she Krishna remain far behind. May we get devotion for her so that our hearts get purified to receive her grace. And thus we become one of the participants of ever happening grand ‘Rasa leela of Radha and Krishna ’.

Undoubtedly , Diana was a 'rebel heart ' who paid a heavy price for daring to provide wings to her perceptions amid the limitations which surround a royal life . It's never too easy to have a parallel system of beliefs , which are apparently antithetical to ones nurtured by a royal family . It's crystal clear from recent revelations that her 'private affairs ' were made public by the royal staff to rein her free spirit . Ironically , her so-called defects in her personality proved to be a perennial source of concocted stories in the hands of paparazzi . Needless to say , the trappings of royal life made her life no better than a bird caged within a golden cage .Her death also brings in dock the role of media . Is it supposed to play with the life of bigwigs , merely to remain relevant in market-oriented world ? The media czars need to answer why they love to trample privacy of an individual ? Why they are hell-bent on making one's privacy lose significance in modern world ? The greatest tribute to Diana would be to develop capacity to respect and honour one's being with a right mindset .

INDO-US NUCLEAR DEAL

The give and take on both sides , between India and US , seems to have taken a grim turn with the Red Brigade refusing to put a seal of approval on the Indo-Us nuclear deal . True, the role of US cannot be undermined if India wishes to use nuclear power in a constructive way . In other words , India has to set-up new re-processing centres besides taking all measures to prevent untoward incidents associated with nuclear reactors . Needless to say , we need America's help at various stage. However , this dependency should not be used as pretxt to allow our nuclear programmes to be dictatd by the laws of US. A foreign country should not be provided opportunity to make inroads into our defenece mechanism , leading to grave threat for the sovereignty of the nation . The problem with present Indo-US nuclear deal is that the Hyde Act ensures that India gets wedded with likes and dislikes of US in determining the course of its nuclear dreams .

It's heartening to know that the corporate sector has finally recognised the worth of disabled people .However , it needs to widen the horizion for them with better alternatives . Ironically , in our nation both private and public sectors have shown little interest in honouring their potential .Even the private sector has been forced to accomodate them only to meet the shortage in skilled employees . Let's come to realize that they have the capacity to make impressive strides in various fields . What we need to do is to prevent them from humiliation and discrimination at the hands of potential employers .The experiences of Charudatta and Nokia's Nitin Goyal ,to name a few, are indicative of fact that better days are now within the reach of disabled people .

DOUBTING THE EXISTENCE OF LORD RAM

The government's affidavit , filed by the Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI), has kept the nation on tenterhooks . Such a prejudiced observation is indicative of the intellectual bankruptcy of the caretakers of this nation . The demand of " incontrovertible proof " to confirm the existence of Lord Ram not only makes mockery of the Hindu senntiments but also bring in light the so-called secular brigade's half-baked understanding of the concept of religion . The matters of faith have always been governed by attributes falling beyond the ambvit of human understanding .Going by the stand of government, the enlightenment of Buddha, the Prophethood of Mohammed , the resurrection of of Christ and other divine phenomenons , resting on the pedestal of indefensible and mysterious factors , are all bogus happenings . The government's stand also undermines Gandhi's supreme association with Lord Ram .Ironically , Gandhi stated that Lord is unseen power ' which makes itself feel and yet defies all proof because it is so unlike all that I perceive from my senses . It is not proved by any extraneous substance.'Lastly , what's the need to go ahead with Sethusamudram project when it's threatening for the marine ecology and absence of Ram Setu could magnify the intensity of Tsunami ?

The social scientists need to evolove means that infuse better values in one of the most respectable institutions carved by our forefathers . Unfortunately , reckless behaviour patronized by the women's organizations and purely commercial considerations threaten to engulf the sanctity of marital bonds . Unless marriage is kept above contract based pereceptions vis-a-vis sentiments echoed by the Hindu scriptures it would be impossible to think of better future for modern times marriages . Sadly , we are living in a country wherein to talk about old order of Hinduism is an unpardonable crime in the eyes of secular dogs ! The terrorists' devilish attempt to enter in bloodshed inside the Parliament was foiled by our brave securitymen .The attack was indicative of the fact that the terrorists have established a perfect link in the nation with state-of-the art facilties .Obviousely ,this was not possible without the help of high-profile locals in the form of likes of Afzal .Ironically , the politics played in the name of Mercy petition has a disastrous effect on the morale of securiry men , giving the impression that we are not intesrested in learning right lessons . It's time for us to take note of pains and sufferings of the widows of securitymen killed in the attack . An attempt to provide solace to the bleeding hearts of these widows is more worhwhile than to shed tears for Afzal !

ENCIRCLING INDO-US NUCLEAR DEAL

The give and take on both sides , between India and US , seems to have taken a grim turn with the Red Brigade refusing to put a seal of approval on the Indo-Us nuclear deal . True, the role of US cannot be undermined if India wishes to use nuclear power in a constructive way . In other words , India has to set-up new re-processing centres besides taking all measures to prevent untoward incidents associated with nuclear reactors . Needless to say , we need America's help at various stage. However , this dependency should not be used as a pretext to allow our nuclear programmes to be dictatd by the laws of US. A foreign country should not be provided opportunity to make inroads into our defenece mechanism , leading to grave threat for the integrity of the nation . The problem with present Indo-US nuclear deal is that the Hyde Act ensures that India gets wedded with likes and dislikes of US in determining the course of its nuclear dreams .
