INDO-US:STRENGHTHENING BONDS

India has slowly and steadily left an indelible impression on the world's map . In sum , it has gained enough stature to kowtow US on critical issues like seperation of civil and military programmes. But India should not get complascent over its achievement in various sectors as a vast chunk of populace is yet to harvest benefits of financial gains . Needles to say , a better Indo-US relationship , hinging on transparent deals , would act as a turning point to both the nations. Interestingly , India's desperatrion to carve a favourable nuclear and economic ties seem to have put terrorism issue on the backburner .In my eyes, India should not miss this golden opportunity to draw Bushs attention towards terrorrists centres operating in Pakistan . It's time to remind him that ' war on terror' cannot attain it zenith unless such centres are brought to dust .

India needs to plat its cards wisely. Make no mistake, The U.S.A. needs India's nuclear knowhow (yes you read it right.) Having failed to invest in Nuclear technology since the nineteen seventies the USA has fallen behind in this field. Now they can no longer delude themselves that oil will last forever, nuclear is back on the agenda. And Indoa is a lot nearer finding a way to neutralise radio - active waste.
If Blair was half the statesman he thinks he is, he would be cosying up to India now with the aim of freezing out the Americans. I'm sure that is what Germany and France are doing, not to mention China.

Dear Ian ,
Thanks for viewing the whole issue in a different perspective . I agree with you that Americans are shrewd policy makers but the problem my friend is that in present circumstances America's help has become imperative for a better position on World's map .I often feel that India can have a much better growth rate if it associates with EU ,Britain or for that matter Asian giants like China and Japan .There is hardly any merit in wooing U.S at cost of our security interests.Thanking you once again , I look forward to more comment from you .
Yours Arvind
